Smooth V2300 Elliptical Bike
The innovative Smooth V2300 offers the pedaling motions of both an elliptical trainer and a recumbent bike. Since this trainer provides cardio training while minimizing strain on joints, it’s popular with elderly trainees, arthritic individuals, people carrying excess weight, and peak-level athletes babying their knees. Recumbent machines are also recommended to people who have back pain or trouble balancing.
Hand pedals are provided to support a total body workout.
Features of the V2300 Hybrid Trainer
The V2300’s console is small but has an easy-to-read LCD with backlighting. The data displayed include calories, distance, speed, time, watts, RPM, heart rate and pulse recovery. The preset workouts are named Fat Burn, Rolling Hills (18 levels), Valley, Ramp (10 levels), Random and Target Heart Rate.

With the warranty excluded, the specs are nothing spectacular. Maybe it’s not surprising; there’s not much competition in the recumbent bike industry that would push Smooth along. We’d like to see a slightly longer stride and more workout options.
If you’re in doubt, it might help to know that Smooth offers a 60-day guarantee on the V2300 and other products. You can receive all of your money back provided that the machine arrives undamaged at the Smooth Fitness factory in Pennsylvania. Customers are responsible for paying return shipping and are advised to buy shipping insurance.
Customer Reviews of the Smooth V2300
Customers report that the V2300 is easy to assemble and easy to climb onto. It provides two distinct elliptical paths and supports both backward and forward pedaling. Users like how the seat is well-padded and adjusts for lumbar support and user height. Operation is smooth and quiet for all but the heaviest trainees.
People are generally content with the workout variety although it’s meager compared to options on regular elliptical trainers. They recommend keeping this trainer in front of a TV, listening to music or reading a magazine to help time pass.
Our Overall Review of the Smooth V2300
Smooth didn’t invent the first recumbent elliptical – that honor goes to Octane Fitness – but it offers one of the best prices on this not-so-common type of fitness equipment. We recommend this trainer to people who 1) truly need a seated elliptical rather than a regular crosstrainer and 2) aren’t willing to pay for an expensive and very high-quality recumbent bike from Octane.
This trainer is adequate for people who aren’t seeking super-intense workouts. The eight resistance levels likely top out around 300 watts. We’d also like to see a more challenging upper body workout though it’s true that a person can always use free weights.
Free curbside delivery is available for Smooth products but we recommend paying the $99 fee for in-home delivery to any room. Service includes moving the V2300 bike up one or two flights of stairs if needed.
