Elliptical Hits: Nice Features of the NordicTrack Elite 1300 Elliptical

  • Long stride – The 20” stride lets taller people use a natural stride length.
  • Programming – Fifteen built-in programs are made easily available through “quick touch” buttons.
  • Upper body workout – Adjustable upper-body workout arms help tone the arms, shoulders, back, and torso.
  • Heart rate monitor – Cardio grip pulse monitors are built into the handlebars.
  • Oversized pedals – The roomy pedals are intended to provide foot comfort over long workouts.

Elliptical Misses: Where NordicTrack Went Wrong

  • Simple stride – While the 1300’s fixed 20” stride is good enough for healthy exercise, it’s a notch below the adjustable strides available on other NordicTracks. The FreeStrider 35S, for one, extends up to 35”.
  • Few resistance levels – This machine has only ten resistance levels. Most home trainers have 20.
  • Sound system – A number of NordicTracks are offered with iPod compatibility, but the Elite 1300 isn’t among them.
  • Short warranty – Customers get just a one-year warranty on parts and labor. That’s too short for a machine with this MSRP.

Overall Rating for the NordicTrack Elite 1300 Elliptical

This machine pales in comparison with NordicTrack’s A.C.T. Commercial Pro, the FreeStrider 35S, and other elliptical trainers developed over the past few years. Look to these models for long adjustable strides, power training ramps, and iFit Live workouts.
