Lifecore Fitness is a US-owned company and is headquartered in Southern California.

The company has been producing fitness equipment for more than 15 years. Lifecore’s older ellipticals (such as the LC990 and LC2000 models) are known for being simple, solid trainers that require little maintenance. Lifecore’s updated lineup, the CD series, has more advanced features.

Brand Features of Lifecore Ellipticals

  • High quality components – Lifecore elliptical frames are made of heavy metal, not plastic, and feature high quality parts on the inside too.

  • Easy maintenance — The parts have been assembled for easy maintenance by the home user. Thus “regular people” can easily tell how to fix glitches, so service calls aren’t needed.

  • Excellent stride Lifecore ellipticals have stride lengths for just about everyone. The LC990 is ideal for shorter users, and the LC2000 suits people with longer strides. LifeCore’s top elliptical, the CD700, has a patented electronic adjustable stride. With the touch of a button, users can change from 17” to 25” in 1” increments.

  • Adjustable foot pedals – Adjustable pedals promote comfort and allow users to alter their elliptical motion.
  • Good capacity – Lifecore cross trainers are labeled with user capacities of 350 pounds or more. That might be a generous estimate, but the machines are relatively sturdy for most adults.
  • OK warranty – With up to 10 years on parts and a year of labor, Lifecore elliptical customers are well protected against breakdowns. Additionally, the machines are designed for easy at-home repair.
  • Moderate number of programs – Lifecore ellipticals have about 12 preset programs each. These include heart rate programs that adjust the machine’s resistance in accordance with data about the user’s pulse. The CD700 also has room for saving custom programs to two user profiles.

Elliptical Misses

  • Price – Lifecore’s older machines are relatively inexpensive, but other brands offer lower prices and more features.

  • Resistance – Whereas many ellipticals have 20 levels of resistance, the LC990 and the LC2000 have only 12 and 16 levels, respectively. The CD700 has 20 resistance levels.

Overall Rating for Lifecore Elliptical Trainers

Lifecore makes good quality products, but their older ellipticals don’t stand out against the competition. Better brands in this price range include Smooth Fitness, Sole, and ProForm. Lifecore’s newer and more expensive ellipticals offer better value; they have some distinguishing features such as long adjustable strides and great resistance.
