Elliptical Hits: What You Get with the Horizon EX78 Cross Trainer

  • Healthy stride – The machine’s 20” stride lets even tall users exercise with a full range of motion. Additionally, the pedals have great traction for safety and feature a “ZEROGap” design, which is optimal for healthy hip movement.
  • Power incline – Motorized settings can move the machine from a zero degree to 16 degree incline. There are three incline settings.
  • Upper body exercise – The EX78’s handlebars move to help provide a comfortable full-body workout.
  • Adequate programming – The console’s eleven programs can be altered mid-program if desired. Twenty resistance levels offer plenty of possibilities, and goals can be managed electronically with the machine’s Advanced Goal Center.
  • MP3 sound system – Integrated speakers accept input from the user’s MP3 player. The Horizon EX78 also has headphone output.
  • Acceptable warranty – This elliptical machine is sold with a lifetime warranty on the frame and brake, a year of coverage on the power incline, two years of coverage for other parts, and a year of labor. Extended warranty plans are recommended.

Overall Rating for the Horizon EX78 Elliptical

The EX78 is among Horizon’s better cross trainers. The power incline lets people burn calories even more efficiently than when exercising at a zero-degree incline, and twenty resistance levels offer plenty of possibilities. The audio system is also a great incentive to buy this machine.

For comparisons, check out competitors such as Precor’s EFX546, which also has an incline, or a cross trainer from Smooth Fitness.
